Club History
Connecting East Central Texas Through Amateur Radio Since Day One
The Leon County Ham Radio Club was founded by a small group of passionate licensed operators who believed that amateur radio was more than a hobby — it was a lifeline. What began as informal gatherings of like-minded enthusiasts grew steadily into a recognized nonprofit organization serving the greater East Central Texas region.
Growing Community
Through licensing classes, public events, and emergency drills, membership grew to 30+ licensed operators — ranging from brand-new Technicians to seasoned Amateur Extra class operators.
Emergency-Ready Communicators
When all else fails, our operators are there. We maintain active ARES and RACES registrations, providing critical communications infrastructure during natural disasters and public emergencies throughout East Central Texas.
